Understanding Logistics Terminology

What is B2B Delivery?

B2B (Business-to-Business) delivery refers to the transportation of goods and services from one business to another. This type of delivery is essential for supply chain operations, facilitating the movement of products from manufacturers to wholesalers, retailers, or other businesses. B2B delivery services are designed to meet the specific needs of businesses, ensuring timely and efficient logistics solutions.

What is CBM?

CBM (Cubic Meter) is a measurement of volume used in shipping and logistics to determine the amount of space a shipment occupies. It is calculated by multiplying the length, width, and height of a package in meters. CBM is crucial for determining shipping costs and space allocation in transportation, helping to optimize the use of cargo space in containers and vehicles.

What is LTL shipping?

LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipping refers to a transportation method where goods from multiple shippers are combined into a single truckload. This option is ideal for shipments that do not require a full truckload, making it a cost-effective solution for shipping smaller quantities of goods.

LTL (Less than Truckload) vs FTL (Full Truckload) shipping?

The main differences between LTL and FTL shipping are:

  • Load Size: LTL is used for smaller shipments that don’t fill an entire truck, while FTL is used when a full truckload is needed.
  • Cost: LTL is generally more cost-effective for smaller shipments, whereas FTL is often more economical for larger, full truckload shipments.
  • Transit Time: FTL shipments typically have faster transit times as the truck travels directly to the destination, whereas LTL shipments may take longer due to consolidation and sorting processes.

Supply vs. Inventory: What’s the Difference?

Supplies are the everyday items you use to operate your business. They don’t directly become part of the products you sell while Inventory refers to the products you sell (or the components used to create them), from the raw materials you source to the finished goods.

What is Cargo Shipping?

Cargo shipping refers to the transportation of goods and materials from one location to another. It involves the entire process of moving items, including packaging, loading, transporting, and unloading.
